Elisa Purls Joins G Boutique for our Annual SANTA BABY Burlesque Workshop

Hi everybody,

Happy to be back this year at G Boutique for another round of Santa Baby Burlesque!

If you're not familiar with who I am, my name is Elisa Purls and I am a burlesque performer.  Nice to meet you.  I have been around for 5 years and am a coquette at the Kiss Kiss Cabaret, a weekly burlesque show playing at the Greenhouse Theater.

Burlesque has been around for a long time; it's the art of tease, not just a strip, but a put together act that is solid with choreography and costuming.  I got into burlesque shortly after quitting ballet.  I was tired of fighting with my weight and constantly made to feel inadequate.  It was very unhealthy for me, many of us ex-ballerinas share a similar story.  Burlesque gave me the creative outlet I was missing, without hating my body or needing to change.  It's a woman-positive art, a display of natural body types with no shame or boundaries, which is why I love teaching burlesque!

I feel like a lot of people who sign up for my classes usually don't know what to expect, I think that's part of the allure.  Really, it's just like any other dance class, just sexier!  We start off with sexy warm ups, sexy stretching and ending it by putting our moves together to a song… Voila- we have a sexy routine.  Santa Baby is a actually an act of mine that I've adapted to teach in classes.  It's very different from what I teach at the G private parties, much more tittilating and slow!  So if you want to learn some new moves, check out what burlesque is all about or just want to have a good time with your girlfriends, sign up and I'll see you on Wednesday!

Don't forget to check out my site www.elisapurls.com for more information about my performances, blog and store.

Fleurt Bella Noche Gown
By the time I was 10 years old, I was only wearing underwear from Marks & Spencer. Nothing else would do. They were the softest, best fitting panties in the world, according to me. Fortunately my mom had a friend who brought them back from London for me on a pretty regular basis. Who knew that my little Marks & Spencer obsession would turn into a lifelong pursuit for the PERFECT panty.

Fast forward many years to the first time I touched a pair of boyshorts from Fleur’t. I was immediately addicted to the fabric and the style. Thank you Nancy Yoo (Designer of Fleur't) After rock & roll, photography and literature, Ms. Yoo saw the need for flirty, feminine lingerie that fits and feels good. She made it happen.

From everyday boyshorts and camis to flirty little chemises, pj’s and comfy bralettes, Fleur’t is all about designing for an audience of women who are bold, creative, active and love to feel good. Lace trimmed boyshorts sit low on the hips with fabric that hugs and stretches in all the right places. Camis all have a shelf bra or a lining for comfort and fit. Chemises are full of whimsy and style that inspires your inner flirt and now a gown that is all about the back.

Fleur't Top Drawer Boypant
Each delivery of Fleur’t  sends a wave of excitement through g boutique. The boyshorts have quickly become a staff favorite and we seem to touch the chemises and pajamas every time we walk by them.  To purchase our fave Fleur't pieces click here.

The Cosabella Story

Cosabella founder, Valeria Campello, was recently featured in a magazine story. I found her story an inspiration for women who value family, business and creativity. Valeria moved to the United States with her family for what was supposed to be a brief work assignment for her husband. Living in America with an Italian law degree and small children at home was frustrating. Instead of complaining, she creatively linked her hometown to her new life by creating this famous Italian brand that is a family business in every way. I love visiting the Cosabella booth at lingerie shows. If you have any questions, there is always a family member on hand to give you answers and support the lifestyle choices that gives Cosabella depth and staying power in this industry.

Here is Valeria's story...

The Cosabella Story

Oct 18, 2011 by Jenifer Mangione
“She is a trailblazer, but the most humble—I think—the most humble woman around. There aren’t many others like her. She has made a brand,” explained Guido Campello, Vice President of Sales, Branding & Innovation for Cosabella, a Made In Italy lifestyle apparel brand, about his mother, Valeria Campello, the company’s founder.

Humble is not a word one normally associates with the fashion industry, especially for a brand that has been embraced by celebrities, but Valeria did not plan to create one of the world’s leading lingerie companies. Speaking with her it’s as though she is somewhat surprised by her success.

“I’m not a designer. I’m not particularly fashion-oriented myself. I had to learn it. But I am a creative person—that definitely,” she shared.

What she planned was to have a family and become a corporate lawyer near her native town of Carpi in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, which now also hosts Cosabella’s global distribution offices. She had graduated from law school and was on her way to achieving that goal when her husband, Ugo, who was working for a glass factory, was given the opportunity to relocate, briefly, to Miami to lead his company’s expansion into that market.

“I graduated got married, had children and when I would’ve started the practice, I never did because I came to America,” she explained.

She and Ugo knew they were taking a risk in leaving their comfortable life in Italy and at that time they already had their three-year old daughter, Silvia, and Campello was pregnant with Guido. But it was a risk they were willing to take—albeit originally with the intention of it being temporary. However, soon after she arrived in Miami, Valeria became restless.

“I was always at home with the children while my husband traveled for work and I began to grow anxious and weary because I’m not one to sit still for long.”

Law school had taught her resourcefulness, and she began to wonder what to do while Ugo worked.

“Law school taught me to find always another answer. You have to find a solution or an answer to work it out,” she explained. “So I thought, ‘OK, I’m in America, what am I going to do?’” she explained.

The answer was Carpi. As it happened, her hometown was known throughout Italy as being a destination for fashion and Campello saw an opportunity to bring Made In Italy products to Miami. Soon, she was importing clothing from “friends and friends-of-friends.”

“My first stock of Made in Italy products included embroidered tops, linen sets and Egyptian cotton t-shirts. The small success of this Italian product showed me that American women take Made In Italy quality seriously,” she explained.

This initial success led to subsequent opportunities, each of which Campello acted upon, and soon her star was on the rise and she was making contacts with buyers and others who would propel her business to the next level. ...more

The Sexy Book of Sexy Sex

Best New Book for the Fall

Kristen Schaal from Flight of the Concords hilarity, and Rich Blomquist writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, use their real life romance and their outrageous humor to make (with all the tropes of a ‘catch-all, sex guide’), an amazing book for your coffee-table or your bedroom nightstand.

This book will make you laugh, maybe make you think, and as promised by the back cover, make you 40% sexier. Absurdly, It will shed light on the kama-sutra limitations of clams, rate the ‘hotness’ of the golden girls, and use everything from pop-culture references, to song titles to Victorian colloquialisms to make you laugh out loud…but most importantly it will bring real life struggles with sex under the microscope, poke fun of them, and offer sound advice. Some couples treat problems in the bedroom in a very shrouded way because of fear, embarrassment or the inability to communicate. This book promotes the opposite. Humor is a powerful thing and maybe the best way to start a conversation about bedroom performance, desires, or needs is with a joke. At the end of the day The Sexy Book of Sexy Sex, reminds us that we are humans, and that’s funny stuff.

Smooth and Silky

Just received a shipment of Mary Green today. Our inquisitive nature (and a little down-time) took over and we did some research on silk. First developed in china around 3500 BC by empress Lei Zu silk was immediately considered a precious commodity and reserved for kings and noblemen. Silk quickly became a popular trade item and other nations began production. To this day, silk means luxury. From sheets to lingerie to cuffs and ties, when you think sexy, you think silk.

Mary Green silk at g
A few fascinating facts about the strongest fiber known to humans: Silk!

1) It takes up to 3,000 silk cocoons to produce 1 pound of silk (the equivalent of our silk robe)!

2) Silk is incredibly moisture and odor resistant, in fact it can absorb up to 30% of it's own weight without
feeling damp.

3) Silk fibers are almost triangular in shape, which allows them to refract incoming light into two directions
giving it such a shiny appearance.

Couple's Class...Finally!

After months of conversation, debate, research and of course a few laughs, we finally launched our new couple’s curriculum last night. Bravo to our g teaching staff and Bravo to our first group of attendees. There was a lovely vibe in the room created by people who care about their partners and themselves. We have definitely taken a step forward at g boutique. It’s so important to us that we support our clients in their journey to lasting satisfaction.

We talked about physiology, biology, emotionology (new word, what do you think?). We talked technique, and we talked philosophy. We opened the doors to Eastern Tantric beliefs about sex and offered it to our students in an accessible way. We sent everyone home with homework and challenges to enhance their personal rituals.

Now, after a few pats on the back, we are looking at ways to make it even better. Our biggest challenge whenever we have men & women together in our classes is igniting discussion. It’s OK if everyone needs private time with us after the class but we notice that often people have the same questions. If we can find ways to open communication channels even more during the class, just think about the growth that may take place.

We are looking forward to our next class and to facilitating private classes with couples. Another great evening at g boutique.

Pink Lemonade...Slip & Slide...

It’s summer!
Time for pink lemonade…flavored lube, that is. Pink lemonade is one of four flavors of Sliquid Swirl that we carry at g. Our other yummy summer flavors are blue raspberry, green apple, and strawberry pomegranate. What’s unique about this popular water-based lubricant is its dedication to women’s health and happiness. Many flavored lubes on the market today contain the ingredient glycerin which is fine to put on guys but NOT okay to put inside of women. Sliquid does not contain glycerin which makes it safe for women to use for all over pleasure. http://www.boutiqueg.com/product.asp?lt=d&deptid=2842&pfid=GBO02843
Sliquid’s non-flavored water based lube (H2O) is a g staff favorite. It is ideal for sex or paired with a silicone toy. We also carry Sliquid’s Organics line of botanically infused lubricant which uses natural organic ingredients- the lubricating silk is great for women with sensitivities and delicate body tissue. All Sliquid products are hypo-allergenic and compatible with any condom. Did we also mention that they are vegan friendly and gluten free? Sliquid is a product created by women, for women, which is an idea that we fully support here at g. Stop by g boutique today to get a taste of summer!http://www.boutiqueg.com/product.asp?lt=d&deptid=2842&pfid=GBO02678

“My Toyfriend’s back…

He’s gonna save my reputation”... (jury’s out on that one) “Hey-la-day-la my toyfriend's back”!

The g girls are a hard bunch to please when it comes to toys. The standards for a toy to make it to our sales floor is up there with the Westminster Kennel Club’s. So I’d like to introduce you to a new line of toys that we’re absolutely bonkers about- one that not only passed our tests with flying primary colors but one that has also stolen our hearts. Am I gushing? Sure. But believe you-me, the sex-toy industry is a scary place. I’m more likely to be depressed or scared away by most of the sex-toys made for women on the market today, and when I find something that’s not only safe, but cute and also orgasmic, I have to gush.

The Toyfriend line is broken into 4 categories:
  1. The Original Toyfriends (pocket size, one-speed, external vibrators)
  2. The Power Toyfriends ( 7-inch, 3 speeds, 3 functions, internal/external vibrators)
  3. The Rocket Toyfriends (same as the Powers but thicker and made for g spot stimulation)
  4. The Extended Toyfriends (external and internal stimulation simultaneously).
Right now we carry 2 toys from the Original line: “Cute” & “Mystic” and the Rocket line: “Coney” and “Nosy”.

Here’s the jist of the line:
1) Some of the softest, high grade silicone we’ve ever seen on a toy.
2) Waterproof almost seamless shape.
3) Unique shapes that simplify the hackneyed “rabbit” design.
4) Great colors and packaging.
5) Wide range of speeds without a lot of noise.
6) Low-Mid price range & battery operated.

The “Cute” and the “mystic” are ideal for a first time toy-buy with a moderate vibration meant for external use only, and the “Coney” and the “Nosy” are perfect for anyone who ever considered a “Rabbit” before but thought , “I don’t think I need that much stimulation”. The “Coney” and the “Nosy” have short, wide shafts and when used internally are able to provide constant stimulation to the clitoris while rocking in and out.
These are the kind of toys you need to meet in person. And the price can’t be beat!

The Nosy The Nosy and The Coney are only $48.
The Cute and The Mystic are only $28!

Come by, meet our new Toyfriends and take them on a permanent vacation, "-la-day-la my toyfriend's back”!
