Best New Book for the Fall
Kristen Schaal from Flight of the Concords hilarity, and Rich Blomquist writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, use their real life romance and their outrageous humor to make (with all the tropes of a ‘catch-all, sex guide’), an amazing book for your coffee-table or your bedroom nightstand.
This book will make you laugh, maybe make you think, and as promised by the back cover, make you 40% sexier. Absurdly, It will shed light on the kama-sutra limitations of clams, rate the ‘hotness’ of the golden girls, and use everything from pop-culture references, to song titles to Victorian colloquialisms to make you laugh out loud…but most importantly it will bring real life struggles with sex under the microscope, poke fun of them, and offer sound advice. Some couples treat problems in the bedroom in a very shrouded way because of fear, embarrassment or the inability to communicate. This book promotes the opposite. Humor is a powerful thing and maybe the best way to start a conversation about bedroom performance, desires, or needs is with a joke. At the end of the day The Sexy Book of Sexy Sex, reminds us that we are humans, and that’s funny stuff.
Just received a shipment of Mary Green today. Our inquisitive nature (and a little down-time) took over and we did some research on silk. After months of conversation, debate, research and of course a few laughs, we finally launched our new couple’s curriculum last night. Bravo to our g teaching staff and Bravo to our first group of attendees. There was a lovely vibe in the room created by people who care about their partners and themselves. We have definitely taken a step forward at g boutique. It’s so important to us that we support our clients in their journey to lasting satisfaction.
We talked about physiology, biology, emotionology (new word, what do you think?). We talked technique, and we talked philosophy. We opened the doors to Eastern Tantric beliefs about sex and offered it to our students in an accessible way. We sent everyone home with homework and challenges to enhance their personal rituals.
Now, after a few pats on the back, we are looking at ways to make it even better. Our biggest challenge whenever we have men & women together in our classes is igniting discussion. It’s OK if everyone needs private time with us after the class but we notice that often people have the same questions. If we can find ways to open communication channels even more during the class, just think about the growth that may take place.
